Hey everyone! Since a lot of us are spending a lot of time at home now, I thought it was a great opportunity to do a little more blogging than my usual Friday Reviews. So I thought I would do some book tags! I’ve seen this one going around a lot, so while nobody has tagged me I thought I’d snag it and let you know what’s upcoming on my reading list 😉

How to Tame Your Tikbalang Without Even Trying by Alma Anonas-Carpio.
While I’m currently reading Kushiel’s Dart, I think next up I may need to take a break from big epics. The last two novels I read were heavy, sprawling things and after three in a row of those it may be time for something lighter! This is a short novel about a priestess taming her summoned mythological creature and it looks lovely.
Next Five Star Read
Cethe by Becca Abbott
Although I don’t use a number rating system, judging by the synopsis and what I’ve read from other reviewers, this sounds like a shooing for the kind of thing I’ll love. It looks to have a lot of political intrigue, a beautiful high fantasy setting involving magic and nagas, and a steamy romance. I have very high hopes for this one!
Next One Star Read
Slave to the Empire by Sarah Hawke
My main reason for thinking this is likely not going to tickle my fancy is because it’s so short. I bought it expecting at least a novella length, but it’s a short story of about 45 pages, so it’s going to end up being… let’s say not exactly what I’m looking for.
Next Love Interest (or Character that Seems Really Cool to you)
The Beauty’s Sword by Feng Ren Zuo Shu
I am really looking forward to falling in love with Fu Wanqing! She seems perfect for my tastes: She’s a beautiful swordswoman, she’s strong and badass and sadistic, she’s a lesbian, and there’s apparently a lot of push and pull between her and the story’s main love interest so I’m very much anticipating falling in love with her. Alas, the english fan translation is only 3 chapters in so far!
Next Book You’ll Be Buying
Docile by K. M. Szpara
I am excited about this recently released title. It’s a science fiction drama about a dystopic future and consent issues present under systemic oppression. It looks really really good, has pretty high ratings, and features a romance heavy on power exchange which is very much my jam.
Next Book That Will Leave You with a Book Hangover (and Desperately Wanting a Reread or Next in Series)
Inherent Gifts by Alicia Cameron
This book looks like it has a heavy enough helping of a lot of the things I like; fantasy world, magic, angst and drama, and tragic Master/slave relationship, plus it’s book one in a series so if the book is good, I could see myself devouring it and longing for more afterwards!
It was fun to look through my TBR pile and remind myself what’s all waiting for me! I have an awful lot of books on my horizon, and it looks like upcoming is plenty of time to start digging into them 😉
I’m not tagging anyone, but if you’d like to do it please consider yourself tagged! What are some of the books you’d answer with? Have you read any of these ones? Comment below!
