REVIEW: Krie Captivity by Kora Knight

Nira. Astrum Industries’ newest charted planet. Freshly discovered. Wholly unexplored. But that won’t be the case for long. Led by Captain Alec Hamlin, a team of explorers make an emergency landing and are soon confronted by their first Niran native. A huge male Kríe packed with muscle and bearing small, black horns and fangs. Fortunately, he’s friendly. Or so he lets them believe.

With the help of his pack, the Kríe takes Alec’s team captive, intending to sell them for profit. But these Nirans aren’t just shrewd, they’re arrogant and domineering. And most of all, extremely sexual. Which explains why, on their journey to peddle their new wares, they feed Alec’s team a powerful aphrodisiac. Nothing like some decadent entertainment on the side. Soon the team finds themselves feverishly trying to resist the growing urge to get physical with their captors. But as passion prevails and unexpected bonds form, so much more is suddenly at stake. With no time left, will a shift in Kríe perspective be enough to change the fate of Alec’s team?

Warnings: noncon to dubcon, sex slavery, mentions of mpreg, straight guy fucking

Krie Captivity is a short alien-fuck novella about a group of intrepid space explorers taken captive by aliens who intend to use and sell them as sex slaves. It’s very threadbare on the plot, and very very very big on the smut. Some good old fashioned alien sex pollen orgy smut. With gorgeous cover art, this is a title that pops off the shelf, especially if you’re into blue aliens. If you’re looking for something more substantial, this may not quite scratch the itch, but it is certainly eye catching nonetheless.

There’s not much story to speak of here, as it is a fairly loose excuse for orgy smut. The human explorers are fed an alien aphrodisiac fruit that makes them overwhelmed with the need to get fucked, and the entire plot is taken up with the human party’s attempts at resisting the effects of said fruit. As such, it’s a cockteasing slow burn up until it becomes a massive fuckfest. Which is really, really fun! I would have liked a bit more story personally though, but I didn’t mind the carnal romp that it was, especially given the unbearably sexy alien captors. Although, I’m not entirely sure how much I like the “straight guys turned gay by dick” trope going on here, I know it’s a big fantasy for some but a bit of a turn off for others, so your mileage will vary on that count. Some of the human characters have kind of a straight machismo going on in their POVs which is a little off-putting if you don’t like that in your M/M smut.

The biggest problem here is that the cast is so large that I had a very hard time keeping all of the characters straight or becoming at all invested in any of them. Between two landing parties worth of human characters, and enough krie characters to fuck all of the first landing party, I never knew or cared who anyone was, and that tends to kill off the emotional engagement quite a bit. Although the book does try to develop bonds between the captives and their alien captors, it failed to really make me care about them. The variety in each character’s personalities was almost nothing, and I have a feeling this title would work better in a visual medium than a written one, since it doesn’t really treat it’s characters as much more than interchangeable bodies.

The physiology of the krie is the primary facet of worldbuilding present in this book, and the author gets quite creative with developing an alien race that function in quite alien ways that also play with the readers expectations on sex and gender. The krie are a 100% male race, which makes them have a limited understanding of human concepts of gender (they react with confusion when asked about “women”), and they reproduce via anal sex. They also apparently, uh, defecate through their dicks, which was an…. interesting choice and thing for the author to bring up. (Listen I’m 100% here for genderfucky fantasy, I don’t need you to explain how they poop, my suspension of disbelief was solid without it) There’s an almost A/B/O-adjacent feel to the gender politics (or lack thereof) combined with the aphrodisiac fruit that makes the person who eats it go into a sex crazed frenzy until they get off, and they NEED to have cum in their ass before they can get off, because of course! It would have been nice to have a bit more exploration of the planet itself and the societies of the krie, but as this is a series it’s very likely that that will be explored more in subsequent books. Or, you know, maybe not, if the content of this one is any indication.

This book is written with copious amounts of classic fic tropes, like sex pollen and fuck or die, and is incredibly steamy from start to finish. What the book lacks in plot or character development it makes up for in extremely hot orgies and feverish alien/human fucking. While the sex feels quite dubcon, the fact that the drug that made them need the sex was forced to them by their captors makes it more strictly noncon, so be warned if that is not your speed. I found the smut incredibly hot, from the cat and mouse flirtatious temptations to the slowly mounting and unshakable need that the human characters were tortured with. The build up to them giving in and begging for cock was pretty damn teasing, and if you like the “dick is so big that the bottom isn’t sure it’ll fit” trope there’s plenty of that as well. The cheesy dialogue can hamper the sexiness of the scenes though, and orgy scenes can be very difficult to keep track of what is happening to who, but other than that it is an incredibly steamy little story.

This is a pretty purely PWP novella, so take it for what it is. I wish that the author had maybe focused on just one or two characters being the captive of these aliens, since that would have allowed for more emotional focus and less of a scattered feeling of a cast. Plus I just personally like gangbangs a lot better than orgies. But all together, an incredibly fun little romp through an alien jungle with aliens that fuck like bunnies.
